This young hunter has had a successful season in 2019. He got his first buck during the youth hunt and recently got is first turkey. Archery deer season opened Tuesday, Oct. 1 in Michigan.

Sheriff Department dive team
Members of the Cheboygan County Sheriff's Department dive team recently conducted a monthly training dive near the mouth of the Cheboygan River and collected trash from the lake bottom. (Addtional photo and information appears in the Oct. 3 edition of the Straitsland Resorter)

Fire destroyed the COP ESD building on Learning Lane between Indian River and Topinabee on Friday, Sept. 19. Five area fire departments fought the fire. Click here for video.

The 2019 Polar Plunge took place on the frozen surface of Burt Lake. More than two dozen hardy souls plunged into the frigid waters and even made snow angels at the event, which raises money for Michigan Special Olympics. Click here for video.

The 2018 Riggsville Christmas Parade was lots of fun, drew a huge crowd, collected thousands of pounds of food for the Cheboygan food pantry and evening included a surprise wedding proosal. Click here for video.
